4 Places To Take Dad For Father’s Day 2019 In Savannah And Pooler
Summer is finally here, which means Father’s Day is just around the corner. This year there’s no need to scramble for ideas, Savannah and Pooler have a fantastic selection of dad-friendly attractions to make this year his best Father’s Day ever. Whether taking your father, grandfather, or great-grandfather, these four awesome places to spend Father’s Day are guaranteed to put a smile on the special man in your life.
1. Bear Axe Throwing
1370 US-80 Suite 300, Pooler, GA 31322
This is top of our list for the ulitmate dad activity. Bear Axe Throwing in Pooler offers the closest thing to becoming a lumberjack this side of the Mississippi, with multiple axe throwing lanes, games, and targets for you and the special father figure in your life to enjoy. Considering all equipment, hatchets, and necessary training are included, taking dad to throw axes might just be the coolest Father’s Day gift ever. Prices are reasonable, and there is even a competitive league that meets weekly to battle it out for the title of champion axe thrower--goodbye bowling, hello new hobby!
2. Leopold’s Ice Cream
212 E. Broughton St. Savannah, GA
After breaking a sweat throwing axes, ice cream is the perfect way to cool down. Ask any local, in Savannah, Leopold’s is hands down the best ice cream in the city. Named one of the top 10 ice cream shops in the world by the Toronto Sun, Leopold’s is a rare establishment where the reality lives up to the hype. While more expensive than your average chain ice-cream parlor, we assure you Leopold’s is worth every penny. Be sure to try their amazing Lemon Custard flavor, made from a recipe unchanged since 1919! Southern charm oozes from the walls of the place, with unique Georgian tastes like “Savannah Socialite” and “Rum Bisque”, dad is sure to find something delicious to help cool down on a hot summer day.
3. Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum
175 Bourne Ave, Pooler, GA 31322
It’s no secret that fathers enjoy anything and everything mechanical. Located right off I-95 at exit 102, Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum houses a world-class collection of World War II war plans preserved in immaculate condition. Dedicated to the 8th force (8 AF), war-buffs and peace-lovers alike can learn something from touring the exhibits on combat, transportation, and life during wartime. With plenty of interactive areas and planes to admire, visiting the museum is an excellent (and inexpensive) way to spend 2-3 hours on Father’s Day in Pooler.
4. Bacon Park Golf
1 Shorty Cooper Dr. Savannah, GA 31406
There has never been an American father who doesn’t like (or at least pretend to like) golfing. It’s fatherhood’s national past time, and the Savannah / Poole area has some of the best courses in the state. A great all around course with good prices, facilities, and location, Bacon Park Golf Course is a perfect place to take dad on his special day. Complete with a full driving range and 18 hole course, there’s no better way to spend father’s day afternoon than putting around on the links. Amateur golfers will take heart that the course offers training lessons for an hour or half hour, and golf carts and pull carts can be rented with ease. Booking a tee-time is easy from their website baconparkgolf.com, and for Father’s day we certainly recommend doing so.
