This month we are going to be starting a recurring segment that shares with you a few handpicked events that we think are more than worthy of your consideration this March!

Savannah Stopover Music Festival

March 7th – March 9th

Various Locations, Savannah’s Historic District

The Savannah Stopover music festival started off as a “warm-up” or a stopover for musicians who were making their way to Austin, TX to be at the world-famous SXSW music conference. The excellent transportation links of Savannah (proximity to the I95 and I10)  made it the perfect place for an event like the Savannah Stopover to form.

However, as time has gone on, the Savannah Stopover has become a fully-fledged festival with musicians from across the world deciding to make the Savannah-based event a destination, instead of a pitstop. From March 7th until March 9th you’ll be able to see over 80 world class musicians take to the stage throughout the historic district of the city in a variety of intimate and medium-sized venues.

March Of Dimes Shamrock Run

March 8th

Ellis Square, Savannah

 This year the annual March Of Dimes Shamrock Run returns to Savannah for the 25th time, and as always – it’s going to be a whole heap of fun! Join countless other runners as they complete the 5km course around the city to raise funds for the Mission Of The March Of Dimes which helps improve the health of babies through research and education. Costumes are strongly encouraged (especially anything green) and a fun and friendly costume competition will take place during the event with cash prizes for first, second, and third place!

1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival

March 9th

Lake Mayer Park, Savannah

 

The internationally renowned 1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival will be visiting us in Savannah this year on March 9th. It’s a truly magical experience that involves writing personal messages of hopes, dreams, and memories on thousands of lanterns that will float along the water gently as the sun starts to set. It’s a surreal sight to behold, and if you’ve never experienced something like this before, it’s certainly one to add to your shortlist. Gates open at 4.30pm and live entertainment and “high stakes bingo” will be taking place until the official lantern lighting starts at 7.30pm.

Tip: Outside food and drink is very welcome at this event (but no outside alcohol is permitted) and packing a blanket to sit on is strongly recommended.
 

Hilton Head Wine And Food Festival

March 11th – March 17th

Hilton Head Island

If you love good food (or a glass of wine or two) then you’re not going to want to miss the hugely popular Hilton Head Wine And Food Festival this year. A wide range of local, national, and international chefs and wine experts will descend on the island to provide you with some of the finest food and drink you’ll taste all year. There will be competitions, events, tasting sessions, and a wide range of dedicated specialty menus and wine lists on offer – each more delicious than the last.

Tip: The “Sip And Stroll” is one of the most popular events at the festival which involves grabbing a glass of your favorite wine, and strolling along the participating shops at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin (all of which are providing very generous discounts for the sippers and strollers).
